Our editorial and verification method
1. Normalized nutrition data spine
Every food entry is normalized per 100 grams and per standard household serving from verified open datasets, recording the exact source identifier and retrieval date.
2. Plain-language health explanations
Numbers alone rarely explain what a food does in the body. Our plain-language digests explain what the macro- and micronutrient profile means for everyday health, written at an accessible reading level and grounded in peer-reviewed studies.
3. DOI-verified research citations
Every health claim or research digest cites peer-reviewed literature via its Digital Object Identifier (DOI) so readers can inspect the primary study directly. Each research digest states whether it summarizes the abstract or the full text.
4. Automated and human quality gates
Food pages remain non-indexed until a plain-language digest and supporting evidence are attached and verified against the underlying nutrient table. Health condition guides require a named clinical reviewer before indexing.
